Associate Professor Idriss Blakey

Qualifications

Associate Professor Idriss Blakey is currently a Vice Chancellor’s Research and Teaching Fellow at the University of Queensland. His research focusses on the rational design, synthesis and self assembly of functional materials for applications ranging from biomedical implants, sensors and computer chip manufacture. His contributions to polymer science have been published by leading publishers such as Wiley, the American Chemical Society and the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Associate Professor Blakey is a regular reviewer and adjudicative reviewer for more than twenty journals, as well as for granting bodies including the ARC, Wellcome Trust, US Department of Energy and the Australian Synchrotron. He has been lead chief investigator on four ARC Discovery grants and chief investigator on four ARC Linkage projects grants in partnership with Intel Corporation, Sematech (a consortium of leading semiconductor companies) and the Dow Chemical Company. Associate Professor Blakey has also been a recipient of a Queensland Government Smart State Fellowship, and an ARC Future Fellowship. He has two fully granted patents, as well as 4 patents at the PCT and provisional stages.
