Microsurgical wetlab

The Professor Lawrence Hirst Microsurgical wetlab is a world class microsurgical facility located at the Queensland Eye Institute.  The wetlab allows microsurgical trainees to practice surgical techniques while a supervisor can watch all of the trainees surgical video feeds at the same time.

The wetlab was funded by a combined $40,000 grant from QLD RANZCO fellows and a $400,000 donation from Madeline Lenz who was a very generous benefactor to the Queensland Eye Institute.

The wetlab is used by ophthalmology, plastic surgery, cardiothoracic and other microsurgical trainees to develop and enhance their surgical skills.
