The Queensland Eye Institute (QEI) is located at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane, Queensland Australia.

The QEI was established in 2005 through the generous support of the Sylvia and Charles Viertel Charitable Foundation. The ongoing funding for the Institute is provided by the Prevent Blindness Foundation.

The QEI is Queensland’s only academic eye institute and is a major research, academic and clinical facility that is committed to the prevention of blindness and preservation of sight.
